Late Winter Heating Repair Issues

We’re coming to the tail end of winter here in Huntsville, TX, with a few more weeks of cold weather followed by the beginnings of spring. Your heating system has likely seen regular use for several months. Now is usually the time when repair calls to our offices start to spike, as all that use leads to problems that can’t wait until spring. A timely maintenance session can help catch potential repair issues before they shut your furnace down, but you should also look for any late winter heating repair issues that may crop up. Here’s a list of a few of them for you to consider.

Clogged Burners

Dust and dirt can coat the inside of your furnace after several months, which can eventually cause one or more of the burners in your system to clog. When they do, the furnace has to work harder to heat your air, resulting in higher monthly bills and increased stress on the system. That, in turn, can lead to further problems and larger repair calls.

Fan Issues

The fan motor operates the blower, which gets the heated air out of your furnace and through the ducts to your home. Problems with the motor, with the fan or with the fan belt can all curtail that process, leaving the heated air in your furnace and causing other components to overheat. A trained technician can hunt down the source of the problem and make timely repairs.

Dirty Filter

Air filters in your heater need to be changed every few months. If they aren’t they can clog up the flow of air and create similar problems to a broken fan. Cleaning or replacing the filter should fix the problem. You may also want to look into installing an electronic air cleaner, which doesn’t need replacing.
