The Indoor System

The unit inside your home is comprised of a fan, fan motor and a series of evaporator coils. The evaporator coils are filled with a refrigerant that gets very cold. The fan and fan motor push the warm air of your home over the coils which cools it. The refrigerant absorbs the heat and then carries it outside to the condensing unit. As the warm air gets cooler it releases its moisture and creates condensation on the coils. This condensation drips down onto a pan and gets drained away. The Outdoor Unit

After the refrigerant exits your home it goes to another series of coils in the outside unit called the condensing coils. Here, another fan and fan motor pushes outside air over the coils to exhaust the heat into the air. After the heat is removed, the refrigerant gets compressed and pumped back into the home to provide more cooling.
